Installing Mark 7 Revolution

Nachdem wir alles ausgepackt und sortiert hatten, konnte es auch schon mit der Montage des Wiederlade Monster losgehen.
Was ihr auf jeden Fall beachten solltet ist, dass ihr einen zölligen Inbusschlüsselsatz benötigt. Wer jedoch von Euch schon mal eine Dillon besessen hat, wird wahrscheinlich so und so einen besitzen.

Wie bereits erwähnt, empfiehlt es sich die Maschine zu zweit an ihren vorgesehenen Platz zu verbringen, da sie einerseits nicht gerade leicht und auch sperrig ist und daher schwer zu greifen alleine.

Nachdem dann auch die beiliegende Tablethalterung montiert wurde, konnten wir das Tablet zum ersten Mal in Betrieb nehmen.

Jetzt ging es an die Verkabelung der Maschine und der einzlenen Sensoren.
Hier sollte man Sensor für Sensor vorgehen um nicht durcheinander zu kommen.

Als gelernter Elektriker achtet man natürlich auf eine saubere Verlegung der Kabel, auch macht es optisch mehr her als ein wilder Kabelsalat.

Ein kleiner Kritikpunkt an dieser Stelle sei erwähnt. In Europa, speziell im deutschsprachigen Raum, haben wir was die Qualitätsstandards der Elektrik angehen, einen massiv höheren Standard. Der amerikanische Standard in diesen Punkten fällt hier deutlich auf. Auch ist es natürlich auch preislich ein Unterschied, ob eine Steckverbindung beispielsweise € 5,- / $ 6,- oder € 15,- / $ 18,- kostet. Prinzipiell jedoch muss man sagen, dass die Verbindungen ausreichend ausgeführt sind. Wem dies jedoch zu wenig ist, kann diese ja entsprechend nachbessern.
Aber Mark 7 hat hier ein sehr offenes Ohr, was Verbesserungen betrifft und sie haben sich die Kritik meinerseits zu Herzen genommen.

A small point of criticism at this point should be mentioned. In Europe, especially in German-speaking countries, we have a much higher standard for quality standards in electrical systems. The American standard in these points is noticeable here. Of course, it also makes a difference in terms of price whether a plug-in connection costs € 5, – / $ 6, – or € 15, – / $ 18, -, for example. In principle, however, it must be said that the connections are made sufficiently. If this is not enough, this can be improved accordingly.
But Mark 7 has a very open ear here for improvements and they have taken the criticism on my part to heart.

Wie der ein oder andere vielleicht erkannt hat, habe ich die Mark 7 Revolution auf eine USV Anlage angeschlossen.
Dies hat für mich mehrere Gründe. Einerseits bin ich galvanisch vom Rest des Netztes entkoppelt und kann somit sicherstellen, dass es keine Spannungsschwankungen, Überspannungen, Störfrequenzen usw. gibt. Zum anderen habe ich bei einem Stromausfall zumindest noch die Möglichkeit die Maschine in Grundstellung zu fahren und zu guter letzt, habe ich einen Schalter mit dem ich alles ein und ausschalten kann.

Nun geht es weiter mit der Wahl der Matrizen.
Ich persönlich habe mich für folgende Konfiguration entschieden:

1. Station – hier wird lediglich die Hülse zugeführt
2. Station – an dieser Stelle lasse ich lediglich entzündern – hier verwende ich eine Dillon Kalibriermatrize Kal. 45 ACP (die hatte ich noch liegen) mit Decapping Pin.
3. Station – Kalibrieren und Primer Swagen – hier greife ich auf eine Dillon .38 Super Auto Kalibriermatrize zurück, jedoch ohne Decapping Pin. Warum dieses Kaliber als Kalibrierung ? Ganz einfach – die 9mm Dillon Matrize macht das typische “Colaflaschen” Design. Auch muss mehr aufgeweitet werden. Die .38 Super Auto Kalibriermatrize kalibriert einerseits eine Spur größer und viel weiter nach unten. Gleichzeitig hat die Matrize die Funktion die Hülse während des Swagen unten zu halten.
4. Station – Zündhütchen setzen – hier habe ich ebenfalls eine .38 Super Auto Matrize ohne Decapping Pin in Verwendung, um die Hülse während des Bezündern unten zu halten.
5. Station – Aufweiten – hier empfiehlt Mark 7 eine Lee Universal Expander Matrize zu verwenden und den Einsatz gegen den Pulverfüllereinsatz des mitgelieferten Mr. Bulletfeeder zu verwenden.
6. Station – Pulver füllen – hier kommt der innovative Pulverfüller von Mark 7 zum Einsatz.
7. Station – Powder Check – auch hier kommt die mitglieferte Pulverkontroll Matrize zum Einsatz.
8. Station – Geschossen zuführen – Mr. Bulletfeeder wie man ihn kennt
9. Station – Geschoss auf Setztiefe bringen – hier habe ich mich für eine Redding Competition Setzmatrize entschieden, da diese über eine Micrometerschraube verfügt.
10. Station – Crimpen – hier kommt wieder eine Dillon Crimp Matrize in 9mm zum Einsatz.

Bereits auf der Shot Show konnte ich mich davon überzeugen, dass die Kombination beim Aufweiten hervorragend gut funktioniert.
Nichts desto trotz, habe ich den Kopf des Powder Funnels noch zusätzlich poliert.

As one or the other may have realized, I have the Mark 7 Revolution connected to a UPS system.
This has several reasons for me. On the one hand, I am galvanically decoupled from the rest of the network and can therefore ensure that there are no voltage fluctuations, surges, interference frequencies, etc. On the other hand, I have at least the possibility to drive the machine in basic position during a power failure and last but not least, I have a switch with which I can turn everything on and off.

Now it goes on with the choice of matrices.
Personally, I have chosen the following configuration:

1st station – here only the sleeve is supplied
2nd Station – at this point I just let it ignite – here I use a Dillon Calibration Matrix Kal. 45 ACP (which I still had) with decapping pin.
3rd Station – Calibrate and Primer Swagen – here I am accessing a Dillon .38 Super Auto Calibration Matrix, but without decapping pin. Why this caliber as a calibration? Quite simple – the 9mm Dillon die makes the typical “Cola bottle” design. Also, more needs to be expanded. On the one hand, the .38 Super Auto calibration die calibrates one track larger and much further down. At the same time, the matrix has the function of holding the sleeve down during the swapping.
4. Station – set primer – here I also have a .38 Super Auto die without decapping pin in use to keep the sleeve down during ringing.
5. Station – Expansion – Mark 7 recommends using a Lee Universal Expander Matrix and using the insert against the powder filler insert of the supplied Mr. Bulletfeeder.
6. Station – fill powder – this is where the innovative powder filler from Mark 7 is used.
7. Station – Powder Check – the supplied powder control matrix is ​​also used here.
8th Station – Shoot – Mr. Bulletfeeder as you know him
9th Station – bring floor to setting depth – here I opted for a Redding Competition Setzmatrize, since this has a micrometer screw.
10th Station – Crimping – here comes again a Dillon crimp die in 9mm used.

Already on the Shot Show I was able to convince myself that the combination works excellently well when expanding.
Nevertheless, I have additionally polished the head of the Powder Funnel.

Ebenso habe ich den Decapping Pin Poliert und an der Spitze abgerundet.
Dies hat den Effekt, dass Nontox Primer dann nicht mehr aufgespießt und wieder zurückgezogen werden können.

Die Einstellarbeiten selbst, sind wie bei jeder anderen Presse.
Besonders positiv erwähnen möchte ich hier den Powder Check Sensor.
Hier muss man eine Hülse mit der richtigen Menge Pulver in die Station stellen. Anschließend mit dem Toolhead ganz nach unten fahren und dann die Matrize soweit rein- bzw. rausdrehen, bis der schwarze Mittelteil der Matrize mit dem roten Basiskörper fluchtet.
Tests unsererseits haben gezeigt, dass der Pulverfüller hier relativ sensibel reagiert und dadurch Fehlladungen so gut als möglich vermieden werden können.

Einzig das Drop Off System welches mitgliefert wird, ist meines Erachtens nach nicht zu gebrauchen.
Der Trichter ist leider eine Fehlkonstruktion, da die Öffnung nach unten, bei richtiger Montage, genau mittig auf der Außenkante der Grundplatte sitzt.
Aber auch dies habe ich Mark 7 mitgeteilt und es wird bereits an einer passablen Lösung gearbeitet.

Was nun ? Ganz einfach. Da ich noch eine Plastikbox meiner alten Dillon 1050 übrig hatte und diese versuchte zu montieren, fiel auf, dass diese aber exakt passt.
Da ich aber nicht in die Plastikbox einfüllen möchte, sondern in meine Munitionskisten, haben wir kurz kombiniert und folgendes Drop Off System erarbeitet – RangeIsClear Eigenpatent eben.

The adjustments themselves are like any other press.
I would particularly like to mention the Powder Check Sensor here.
Here you have to put a sleeve with the right amount of powder in the station. Then move the toolhead all the way down and then turn the die in or out until the black middle part of the die aligns with the red base body.
Tests on our part have shown that the powder filler reacts relatively sensitively and thus misfeeds can be avoided as much as possible.

Only the drop off system which is mitgliefert, I think is not useful.
The funnel is unfortunately a faulty construction, since the opening downwards, when properly installed, sits exactly in the middle of the outer edge of the base plate.
But I have also told Mark 7 and it is already working on a passable solution.

What now ? Very easily. Since I still had a plastic box of my old Dillon 1050 left and this tried to mount, it was noticeable that this fits exactly.
Since I do not want to fill in the plastic box, but in my ammo crates, we have briefly combined and developed the following drop-off system – RangeIsClear self-patent.

Als ich Dan von Mark 7 beim letzten Videotelefonat mein Patent gezeigt habe, brach er in Tränen aus und zeigte es sofort seinen Konstrukteuren.

Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass sich der Aufbau als sehr einfach gestaltet. Man benötigt für die reine Montage der Maschine in etwa 2 Stunden.
Rechnet man die Feinarbeit für saubere Verkabelung, einstellen usw. noch dazu, bin ich auf 4,5 Stunden gekommen.
Die ersten Patronen liesen nicht lange auf sich warten.

Den Kauf der Maschine habe ich keineswegs bereut und bin äußerst zufrieden damit.

When I showed my patent to Mark 7 on the last video call, he burst into tears and immediately showed it to his designers.

In summary, it can be said that the structure is very simple. It takes about 2 hours to completely assemble the machine.
If one calculates the fine work for clean wiring, adjust, etc. even more, I came to 4.5 hours.
The first cartridges were not long in coming.

I have not regretted the purchase of the machine and am extremely satisfied with it.
